Play Therapy
Child-led play therapy works 1-1 with children aged 4-11 to assist in emotional regulation, working through trauma, family changes (divorce/separation/adoption/fostering) and communication difficulties, for example.
Play integrates drawing, painting, toys, playdough, creating, crafts, story telling and writing...all manner of play. And it is through play that we are able to observe a child's behaviour and emotional needs.
Sessions are not 'sit and talk' necessarily, but rather immersive and a process in developing trust and openness from the child. An initial 6 week minimum booking is required. Play therapy may take longer with children to be in line with presenting concerns.
An initial and post-sessions meeting with parents is required to assist with establishing needs and reflecting on a level of observation.
